Recognising Combination Skin
If you have combination skin, it means you will experience both oily skin and dry skin at the same time. Often, oily skin will occur in the T-zone of your face (Forehead, nose and chin) and dry skin is more likely to occur on the cheeks and around the jaw. Another characterisation of combination skin is that the texture and condition of your skin can change often. It is usually caused by unbalanced sebum production or having a damaged skin barrier. Unbalanced sebum production can occur when your pores become blocked with bacteria or dry skin cells and a damaged skin barrier can be caused by harsh skincare, environmental stressors or an unhealthy lifestyle, such as smoking, lack of sleep and stress.
What would Witlof do?
When caring for combination skin, it is important to use mild products, that will work to balance and renew the skin. Ginger root oil (Pro-vitamin A) is a natural form of retinol. It can be found in the Cleansing Mousse, Balancing Toner and Smoothing Peel and is an anti-oxidant for the skin and is great at unclogging pores, fighting acne and reducing redness. It has skin renewing properties, so can help to fade acne scars, pigmentation and boost collagen production.
Fruit acids and Corallina Seaweed, found in our smoothing Peel, are the perfect way to gently and thoroughly exfoliate your skin and help maintain the hydrolipid balance of the skin, improving its suppleness, moisture and strengthening it’s barrier function. Rosehip extract, found in many of our products, including the Cleansing Mousse and Balancing Toner, contains vitamin C, which is another anti-inflammatory and antioxidant ingredient. It can help stimulate the production of elastin and collagen, which helps in rebuilding your skin and will keep it looking fresh and youthful. Finally Apple Cider Vinegar, found in our Balancing toner restores the PH level of your skin and helps to prevent impurities and boost hydration.
