Aloe Vera is one of the most commonly-known ingredients in Skin Care Products. But how much do you know about the ingredient itself?

Aloe Vera is the Product of the Leaf Juice from the plant "Aloe Barbadensis". It Grows Best in Hot and Dry Climates, Mainly in the Dry Regions of Africa, Asia, Europe and America. In India, it is found in Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

WHAT DOES ALOE VERA DO?

Aloe Vera has many uses and benefits. One example of this is the moisturising effect it has on the skin. This is because the ingredient attracts moisture and increases the water content in the outer layer of the skin.

 This ingredient also promotes skin healing. Several ways have been suggested for the wound healing effect of aloe gel, including: keeping the wound moist, increased migration of epithelial cells, rapid maturation of collagen, and reduction of inflammation.

 

EXTRA INFORMATION:

Aloe vera has a moisturising effect from 10%.

Freeze dried aloe vera extract increases the water content of the stratum corneum in formulations in which the concentration is more than 0.25%.

It is concluded that aloe vera gel is as effective as benzyl benzoate in the treatment of scabies. (N=28)

 

*Patients with infected scabies were also treated with a twice daily dose of oral cotrimoxazole in addition to the aloe vera gel or benzyl benzoate.
