What is veganuary?
What veganuary means and why you benefit from vegan skin care
Veganuary ... We find it just as hard to pronounce as you probably, another trend next to Dry January or Movember? We don't think so!
What is veganism?
Veganism, or the now commonly used English term 'vegan', does not seem like a temporary trend but a lifestyle that is getting more and more supporters. It means that you do not consume animal products as long as that is practically feasible. It goes a step further than vegetarianism, in which vegetarians do not eat meat or fish, but for example carry eggs or dairy, or wear clothing or wool clothing.
Someone who lives in a vegan, in principle, abstains from eating or using something that comes from an animal, including by -products from animals such as honey, beeswax or wool fat, and of course all products that have been tested on animals.
Why is veganism ethically important?
Without going too deeply to the moral and ethical considerations of people to live vegan, it is worth emphasizing that in many cases where animal substances are used, these animals have no good quality of life or die a cruel death. Vegans are usually very aware of the benefits for animals and the environment.
Is veganism good for the environment?
Veganism is indeed also good for the environment! The production of meat and dairy products provides more carbon emissions, which affects the atmosphere of our earth and contributes to climate change. The production of these types of products, with the highest carbon emissions from beef, requires more finances and causes higher carbon emissions than vegetable products.
Although eating meat is not unnecessarily unhealthy, reducing consumption (or removing it completely from our diet) reduces different cardiometabolic risks associated with eating meat with a high fat content. Vegan food is becoming more and more normal.
Is vegan skin care better?
We think so for various reasons.
Choosing vegan skin care means that you are guaranteed healthy, natural ingredients on your skin. In general, vegan products contain fewer synthetic chemicals that can hide your pores and cause pimples or irritation. They are also more sustainable in use, because all ingredients are biodegradable (from the earth itself). That is why vegan products are suitable for all skin types, even for skin types that suffer from acne, eczema or rosacea.
Vegan skin care is also cruelty -free!
Are animal substances used in skin care or cosmetics? Yes! Honey, beeswax or lanoline (wool fat) are regularly added to creams or other skin care products. Karmijn is also often used for the red color in lipsticks. Karmijn is made from the scales of Cochenillebladluizen, which are killed and ground alive so that the blood releases the red color. Doesn't sound lurid?
Best vegan products?
All Witlof Skincare products are consciously made vegan.
Precisely because animal ingredients are often used in creams (wool fat, honey, beeswax), we are very proud of our vegan face creams and especially on our Refreshing Eye Cream. This eye cream is a real pot of plant power! It contains an extract of paracress, a plant that has a relaxing effect on the skin and ensures that you have less deep lines and wrinkles (twice a day) after 28 days! Maximum vegetable power!
